pinecone Lesson Plans

Welcome to our Talk About Trees curriculum section. The Forest Foundation has developed this environmental education unit on California's forests to follow California Education Code 8706, which states that students at all levels "…should become aware of the interrelated nature of living processes, gain understanding of ecological relationships, and become sensitive to the interdependence of man and natural resources." This unit was developed to be not just informative, but user-friendly and entertaining, as well.

You will find seven complete lesson plans with objectives, skill area, vocabulary, and focus items. The curriculum is designed for grades 4-6, but is easily adaptable for other grade levels. Each lesson includes activities, many of which can be found in the "interactive games" and "forest activities" sections of our web page. Feel free to print the lesson plans and activities to use in your classrooms. We are interested in your evaluation of our curriculum. Please register your classroom and school in our "teacher registration" link. We will periodically send additional materials to teachers who are actively using our site, and will not forward or sell your information to other organizations.
